Dog Flea Medication

By Ray Lam

If you have a dog you know how important flea medicine is for your animal. There are many types of flea treatment for pets that you can use. Most people use the products that are recommended to them by the vet. Some of the products that vets recommend are Advantage, Revolution and Frontline. However, these may not be the right ones for you to use with your dog, and with the dog fleas that bother them. The flea medicine that you choose should be something that you feel comfortable using.

One of the ideas that are catching on with a lot of pet owners is the natural flea treatment. This can be much safer for your pet and your family. When you use the natural treatments you don?t have to worry about any harmful chemicals for your dog. Besides finding the right flea treatment for pets, there are some other things that you will want to do that will help with your dog?s flea problem.

In fact, your pet would not even know he has just received a treatment. The secret of Flea medicine is that it prevents the fleas and ticks in the first place to settle on your pet, thereby saving your home from their infestation that may bring secondary infection to the children. People have tried many other ways to get rid of fleas like locking the pet in the bathroom and applying shampoo. It only leads to a wet and smelly bathroom, not to speak of the messy state that both you and pet suffer.

New highly concentrated flea medication will do the trick and all that it takes is a few drops on your pets back. It is surprisingly effective, so don't get carried away with it. Also, a good flea powder should be used in the pets bedding to kill any fleas that are sharing it. If the dog has a dog house, a good dash of flea powder should be used in it as well.

Besides the natural treatments you will want to make sure that you keep your dog clean. Give them a bath up to once a week if necessary in the flea season, and brush them daily. You will also want to make sure that you keep your house clean since fleas can get into your house. You want to make sure that you vacuum your carpet and wash anything that your dog sleeps on.

This product is probably the easiest flea treatment to use as well. All you need to do is apply a pre-measured dose once a month to you pet at the base of their head and between the shoulders. There is no mess and the medication will not leave your pet's hair greasy or slimy. It is also designed to treat not only fleas but their eggs and larvae as well; Advantage uses your dog or cat as the catalyst to kill fleas everywhere they could be living in your house. The medication can kill fleas living in your carpets, pet beds, and furniture as well as the fleas on your pet. You should continue treatment monthly even if it is not flea season in order to kill the fleas completely and prevent outbreaks when flea season rolls around again.

The Basic Parrot Taming Tips.

By Roshan R Prasad

A parrot is a wild animal. Since it will take some time to tame the bird, you should know the appropriate steps to make them feel that you are their friend.

Once you bring the parrot home, make sure that it stays inside the cage for at least 24 hours and kept around people who love birds. If you see that the bird is skittish, give it some more time.

If you cover all the windows and mirrors and leave the cage door open, the parrot will emerge from the cage when it is ready to. If the bird does not emerge soon, you may be able to lure it out using some food or a branch. In order to protect yourself from snags, take precautions to ensure your hair is out of the way and wear clothing that will not snag easily.

You should never speak loudly toward the parrot. Also, you must never look directly at him since this will make them perceive you to be a predator.

If your parrot does not want to take food from your hands, then use clippings and put them in the cage. You should praise them whenever they eat so eventually, you can feed them using your own hand.

In order to exercise their wings, parrot's will need to fly occasionally. If you feel that the bird is still scared, then try using a bird stand that is fairly low and a couple of sticks with different lengths so that you can carry the bird around. Its best to have two sticks so the parrot is able to move around. Use slow, steady moves to avoid scaring the bird.

The first few weeks of taming a parrot are going to be challenging. Once you have made some improvements, you can now teach it certain commands like "step up". This will teach the bird that you are the master and if this is said, the parrot is aware that it must go to you especially when there is imminent danger so both of you can get out of harms way.

A very important command that you want your parrot to learn is "NO". If the parrot does something wrong then correct the bird so it will know not to do it again.

It will take time to tame the bird. After your parrot's initial fear has been conquered and there is now a bond of trust and friendship, you can begin to teach him to speak certain phrases or even to sing along with you.

You have more responsibility and the worse part of it all is that you have to potty train it. I am sure some of you might just forget about gettin pets when you hear that you need to potty train them but let me tell you this, potty training a pet is easiest when they are young. The important thing that you should remember is that timing and routine are important. You need to setup a regular schedule for your little dog. How? Read on to find out more.

We shall start by understanding the basics. One thing to note; a new-born is not ready for potty training. The ideal age would be three months.

First Rule: Remember to keep your puppy's meal on a regular schedule. You can take your pet out after he is done with his meal. You can also take out your pet after nap, before his bedtime, or when he whimpers during the night.

Second Rule: You should only feed your puppy and give him a little water when you can take him outside after eating. As much as possible do not give water to your puppy two hours before sleeping. In this way you help prevent accidents through the night.

Third Rule: You should bring your puppy out on a leash after playing with him. This would give your puppy a hint that it's time to relieve himself.

Fourth Rule: Always bring your puppy to the same spot, so that he could recognize the area where he should regularly eliminate.

Fifth Rule: You can use a word that would cue your puppy to relieve himself on your command. They will recognize that specific word as a command soon enough.

Last: I am sure you like to be praised. Therefore, you should reward or praise your puppy if he relieves himself outside or followed your instructions on potty training.

With potty training, sometimes accidents happen. In case these accidents occur, here are some suggestions on how you can best deal with them.

If you catch your pet relieving itself at a place it is not supposed to, firstly, you should not scream or yell. Gently nudge your pet to go outside and after this continue the reward thing by praising your puppy.

However, don't worry. The mess won't be around all the time. All you need to do when you pet does this is to just keep your cool and then you should just continue with the potty training. One thing to remember when you clean your pet's waste; make sure to clean it thoroughly so that it won't leave any smell that may induce your puppy to relieve on that same spot again. After doing this, you should put the cleaning materials outdoors. Your puppy should be able to take the hint that it should relieve itself outdoors.

Finally, if you just stick to your schedule and routine, eventually your puppy will get used to this and act in the way you want him to be.

Bee Population

By Charlie Reese

Factors To A Declining Bee Population

The honey bee population of the United States of America is one the decline. In the past year, many bee farmers have noticed more and more abandoned bee hives compared to all other past years. Death of some of the bee population is to be expected during the winter season but there are actually not a lot of dead bee bodies found in the abandoned hives to warrant the season as one of the killers of some of the bee population in the Unite States of America.

The decline of the bee population of late has caused a major furor because many of the farmers who grow crops and other plants are mostly dependent on the honey bee population for the propagation of their crops and plants. The honey bee population of the United States is responsible for almost 80 % of the natural propagation of the country's crops and plants.

Pesticides

Many fingers are pointing at chemical pesticides as one of the culprits to the declining bee population in the United States. Pesticides affect all insects and pests that come into contact with it. Thus, even the potentially helpful insects are eliminated when farmers use chemical pesticides to control all forms of pests in their crops. Pesticides are needed by some farmers due to other potentially harmful insects that destroy crops yearly.

Disease Or Fungus

There are also reports of some disease or virus that may be responsible for the decline of the honey bee population in the United States. In the past decades, similar reports of a decline in the population have prompted experts and researchers to probe the reason. A fungus or virus has been identified to have affected some colonies of honey bees and have been spread by some of the infected bees being adopted into other hives.

Weather

The winter season has always affected the bee population. An especially harsh winter will have more drastic effects. The reason why some experts doubt the theory of harsh winters affecting the bee population drastically is that there are not a lot of dead bees in the hive during the winter season. Evidence that the cold has something to do with the bee population decline is not seen.

Experts are still confused and baffled regarding the abrupt decrease of the bee population in the United States and some parts of Canada and Europe. If this decline of the bee population shall continue, you can expect the bees to be gone for good.

Dog Behavior Questions - Is Your Behavior Ruining Your Training?

By Lee Dobbins

Contrary to popular belief there are not as many training styles as there are trainers and one of the most interesting dog behavior questions that arise is how the trainers attitude affects the training process. The despite an individual differences people handling dogs fall into clearly recognizable categories. And no matter your an individual style or that of your dog there remain certain truisms.

I can't think of anything that requires more patience (except perhaps for raising children) then training a dog. Most people don't have a lot of patience naturally so along with training your dog, you might have to train yourself as well!

Be prepared to an invest the time daily at least half an hour but preferably an hour to developing the desired behavior in your companion. And when you feel you're at your limit of patience whether at 10 minutes or an hour an end the session.

Strive to length that 'time to boiling point' a little an each day. Remind yourself you are dealing with a dog. Even the most an easily trained breeds or individual dogs an understand at roughly the level of an average two-year old persons. Of course there are those rare an exceptions.

Dog behavior questions can always be answered by thinking about nature. In nature, dogs live in packs where there is an alpha dog or leader. When training your dog remember you are the boss or alpha dog. Remember in order for your training to work you must assert yourself as the leader and not the other way around.

When giving commands, be firm, but do not yell. Do not get angry with your dog when they do not obey. Rather than becoming frustrated with your dog, persist in your practice. Also, do not let the dog become the alpha of your pack. Your goal in training should not be to stroke your ego or to feel like you have power over your dog. The goal should be to have a safer environment for your dog and your family.

This won't an always be easy - some dogs are natural leaders. But an even in purely wild packs that role can and does change an among and an individuals when the more assertive an individual insists on taking it. Be consistent don't give up and your dog will follow your orders.

No matter how well you train your dog, your dog still has a mind of its own and won't always follow the commands you issue. You and your dog will get frustrated if you expect him to learn a command with too few repetitions or to always perfectly follow one that you taught him before. Your dog does not have the same memory as a human. It is even different from very young humans. Get to know your dog. Acknowledge your dog's unique qualities, his learning capability, and any limitations he may have.

Breeds vary in their ability to be trained as do individual dogs. There are dogs more energetic and spirited by nature such as terriers, retrievers and Dalmatians. Some are more calm like basset hounds and collies. Age plays an important role too. A ten-week old puppy will not pay attention the same way a three-year old dog will.

The best way to train your dog is by working with their unique personality traits. Do not yell at your dog needlessly or use strong physical punishment whenever they don't immediately obey. This will not help train your dog. In the end, training is about building trust with your dog so that he will obey you by choice rather than through fear.
